A crystal clear mission from the very beginning
Our story so far…
When our grandpa Martti invented the very first studs in the 60s, he foresaw traffic increasing at a rapid pace and, as a consequence, the problem of road-wear. This is when he invented a stud – Holkkinasta – that consumed the road much less than any previous inventions.
In 1974 Heikki, Martti’s son and our father, took over the business and ambitiously developed it further with the help of his wife Marja who has served as Head of Finance at Turvanasta for over 25 years. In 1988 a new company, Turvanasta, was established as a joint venture with Neste Oyj. The mission of the new company was to create studs that would wear roads as little as possible. It became evident that a very tight collaboration with tyre-manufactures was key when striving for this goal.
